The hounds - Hex's story

This story began when we adopted Brew in January 2009, after loosing our dearly loved Duke. It wasn't long after having Brew at home, that we thought it would be nice to begin thinking about getting him a girly companion to keep him company. We spoke to Debbie at Greyhounds4U (G4U) to keep an eye out for us and to let us know if a suitable hound became available. We planned to meet a potential match at the G4U summer barbecue, but before we did, I received a message from Debbie saying that Brew’s brother Magic and sister Hex had retired from racing and were being re-homed through G4U! As you have probably guessed, we were rather excited.
I am a true believer that things happen for a reason. I checked Hex’s suitability on her profile and she sounded perfect, so I rang Debbie straight away to see if we could reserve her. I would have adopted Magic too, but at the time it wasn't practical to have three dogs and the Martian can be very strict at times despite my best efforts.
We met Hex at the 10th Anniversary G4U Summer BBQ (view my handmade limited edition G4U bunnies I made!) and fell in love straight away. We learnt that she has an overdeveloped bottom jaw that makes her teeth look a little goofy and which acquired her the nickname of Iron Jaw at the kennels. Both Brew and Hex got on really well so we travelled back to Cornwall together and have since settled into our new home, where they both enjoy chasing each other around the garden.
Hex is very sweet, loves lots of cuddles, enjoys chasing Brew nibbling at his ankles and standing under the bamboo tree. She’s a proper little minx and keeps Brew on his toes that's for sure.
Here’s to many more happy years and memories that will last a lifetime.
